I
think we’re going to go after Dragic in free agency
so we won’t have as burning an issue for a point guard. Besides, rookie point guards do not come in
as starters anyways. That being said,
I think they see Lillard as a scoring point guard
who could play both back court positions and be effective. I also don’t think they’re willing to
chance it on Drummond. Even if he were
available he’s a project, which means multiple years before he’s a
contributor. They’ve already said they
want to win now, so that kind of pushes the likelihood of that back. This really sounds a lot like Thabeet 2.0.
Really. So, I’m going to go
with the idea that they’ve fallen in love with Lillard
and will take him #6. For
#11 I think they’ll address the center position, and draft Meyers
Leonard. He’s more of a project than
Zeller, and less than Drummond. I
think he fits that middle ground that they are willing to invest and gamble in , with the idea that there’s some short term payoff
there. I
think they also realize that Matthews is not a quality starting 2 guard for a
championship caliber team. So I think
that will be the other position they either try and fill
via free agency, or they do in the draft.
For example, Dion Waters or Jeremy Lamb instead of Lillard. Although 6 seems awful high for Waters. |
If we keep the
picks - Drummond or Beal falls to us at 6 and we take them. If I absolutely
had to choose I'd say Drummond. Blazers might not keep him, but the lure of
drafting such a prospect that late makes it pretty much guaranteed if he's
available we take him. At 11 - we take
Damian Lillard. If Lillard
isn't around we take a SG/scorer like Jeremy Lamb or Dion Waiters. If we trade the
picks - I think we're trading them for a proven scorer/playmaker. That means
combo-ing either 6 or 11 or both for Rondo, Kyle
Lowry, or Eric Gordon. Too hard to guess the exact player, though. Either way -
final guess is Drummond/Beal at 6, Lillard at 11. |
I think the
Blazers are going to go for Beal at 6(if they are able to grab him.) If they
can't get Beal then I think they will go for Drummond. As for pick #11 I
think they will go with Lamb. It's a position that needs to be filled (hence
going for Beal as well), and the free agent market for shooting guards isn't
really that great compared to the other positions. |
I will finally
join this convo. I believe that they will go for Drummond at 6 no matter
what. Blazers love to draft on potential and he is a big which helps. The
only this is that they probably dont want another
big getting hurt so a Bowie/Oden situation again. Anyways they will take
Drummond anyways. But #11 is tricky. My guess is that they trade the pick.
They do want some young talent but also some experienced players. They could
go after Lowry, or someone else that wants out. So overall,
Drummond at 6 and trade #11. Thats
not what I want but what I believe will happen. |
